The Reserve’s Village is always buzzing with activity, and now, with construction on the new Guest House Cottages moving full-steam ahead, it is buzzing with the sounds of progress…

On January 21st, The Reserve at Lake Keowee celebrated the groundbreaking of the Guest House Cottages neighborhood—a new collection of retreat homes located in the heart of the community.  Since then, the collection of cozy cottages has begun to come to life and take its place among the stately pine trees that border The Reserve’s Guest House—a six suite, custom-built bed and breakfast style inn to accommodate non-resident Members, their guests, and prospective buyers during their stays.  Designed by Mill Creek, each cottage features a post and beam construction, an open floor plan with vaulted ceilings, and an abundance of natural materials and natural light, giving them a much larger feel than their average 1,860 heated square feet.

The Reserve’s first Builder Showcase Home: Final selections are set and Interior/Exterior finishes are going up!

The Reserve at Lake Keowee Lake Home in Lake Keowee, SC

The first of several homes chosen from The Reserve Builder Showcase plans is well underway!

Since its inception in 2009, several families have put their confidence in The Reserve’s Builder Showcase Program to build their dream home on Lake Keowee. The ease of choosing from 25 pre-approved designs and confidence in the experience of our 9 Showcase builders is appealing to busy families who are wary of the commitment to build a home.

As the first Reserve owners to select a plan from the Builder Showcase Program, we are following the progress of Janet and Len Nardone’s Lake Keowee home right here on the official Reserve Blog!  Ridgeline Construction Group, began construction last April and anticipates a move-in date of early Spring 2011.

Progress Report:
Ray Foral, of Ridgeline Construction Group, reports that framing is complete and his crews are currently working on stone veneer and prepping for stucco on the exterior of the home.  On the inside, they are hanging drywall and getting ready to start on the interior finishes (paint, trim, tile, cabinets, etc.).

The Nardones visited the lake in October for their electrical walk through where they addressed locations of all lights, switches, audio-visual needs, etc.  In December, when they came for The Reserve Christmas Party, they did a thorough review of all interior finish selections and tied up loose ends.  The Nardones have officially completed all decisions regarding the construction of their home, allowing them to sit-back and enjoy watching their home come together!

Two Lake Keowee Residences take home 2010 Design Excellence Awards

Lake Keowee Homes, Lake Homes in South Carolina

Burns Residence on Lake Keowee, SC

The Reserve at Lake Keowee boasts some of the most beautifully designed, architecturally dynamic homes in the country.  Of these beautiful Reserve residences, many have been showcased in magazines and won numerous awards.  Most recently – two were recognized by Residential Design & Build Magazine and awarded “2010 Design Excellence Awards” for their unique character and outstanding architecture.

This was the second straight year Sexton Griffith Custom Builders has received an Excellence Award, a real testament to to strength of The Reserve Builder Showcase program. Both award-winning homes were designed by Neal Prince Architects of Greenville, SC.

After Chris and Dick Bishop chose their stunning lakefront homesite, they knew that—with the help of their architects at Neal Prince— they would carefully design their home to take full advantage of the property’s 300 degree view of Lake Keowee and the Blue Ridge Mountains beyond.  Taking cues from the site, Sexton Griffith’s team of experts placed the Bishop’s home prominently on the broad peninsula so that it embraces family and friends as they approach, but also spans the waterfront with framed views of the lake from every room. With a casual, open presence the home provides unobstructed movement between the indoor rooms and the outdoors spaces, but the crown jewel of this magnificent home is what the Bishop’s call the “observatory”— a level of windows with open views across the lake to the Blue Ridge Mountains in the distance.

The Burns Residence – South Falls Road
Builder:  Potter General, Inc.

Stephanie and Gary Burns had a vision of greatness as they chose their homesite in The Reserve, a sloping promontory overlooking the pristine waters of Lake Keowee. In order to maximize the panoramic views, the architects at Neal Prince designed a series of rooms strung across a long bending axis in the natural landform, resulting in a curvilinear plan that affords spectacular viewpoints from the majority of rooms. Trey Lee, founder of Potter General, Inc. and Reserve Showcase Builder, relied heavily on his years of experience in building on the terrain around Lake Keowee as his team constructed the radial, vaulted great room featuring floor to ceiling windows provides a strong connection to its exterior surroundings of stone retaining walls that carve landscaped terraces into the terrain, allowing for decks, porches and a swimming pool that encourages life lived outdoors.

Breaking ground on Lake Keowee this Spring: Watch the first Showcase Home come to life!

Janet and Len Nardone in The Reserve at Lake Keowee Village. The Showcase Builders Program is off and running—the first of 22 home plans becomes a reality this spring as Reserve owners, Janet and Len Nardone, start construction on their new Lake Keowee home.

Len Nardone remembers when he and his wife began the search for a place to build their second home, “We visited a number of communities on the east coast, but immediately felt comfortable with the friendly, family atmosphere at The Reserve.”  Janet adds, “We were just in the looking stages, but we knew ‘this was it’ and bought a lot that day.”

The Nardones chose to work with Showcase Builder Ray Foral, of Ridgeline Construction Group, to personalize The Crofton plan for their lakefront homesite in The Reserve. “We talked with several builders, who were all impressive.  We decided to build with Ray Foral and Ridgeline after seeing he had previously built homes very similar to what we had in mind.  Also, we were able to quickly develop a good relationship with Ray and his team.”

The Nardones are nearing the final design stages with Ridgeline, and plan to break ground in the spring.  Follow their journey from breaking ground to move-in day right here on the official Reserve Blog!
